'Simply a marvellous play, painfully funny and passionately serious' Sunday Times 'The perfect play' New York Times Dates: Friday 7 September, 8pm | Saturday 8 September, 2pm, 8pm Tickets: Adult $34 | Concession $28 | Student $22 | 24 and under $20 Starring: Frank is a cynical college professor, stuck in a haze of self-loathing and stale whiskey. Rita is a brash, naïve hairdresser from Liverpool. Two very different worlds collide when Rita, in a desperate bid to escape her predictable and thankless future, signs up for an English Literature course taught by Frank. The rude and unprofessional Frank is quickly softened by Rita's enthusiasm and finds himself questioning the archaic academic circle he's enjoyed for so long. Rita's fresh, intuitive approach becomes clouded and stifled as she grapples with the problem of a formal education, while Frank also learns something - to believe in himself again. An innately charming comedy about happiness versus success. Directed by Jennifer Hagan |
